Is there any way the dealerships could be sent a recommended install time for the kit?
I took the release bulletin that say 1 hour install time. When I was called by the service advisor with a quote of $450 that the 1 hour was per sensor plus 1 hour for the reprogramming.
I told him I would pick the car up.

There is a recommended install time. It is 1 hour for the install of the entire kit and download of the calibration. It is up to the dealer what they charge, it is only a recommendation on the install time. A dealer that has never installed one may quote 2 hours untill they see exactly what is required. Three hours is on the rediculas side. I recently watched a Solstice install and it took about 40 minutes total including the cal download. The HHR SS may take a few minutes longer due the more difficult location of the TMAP in the charge air cooler duct.

Turbotech installed mine and he originally installed his. He found on the HHR's it's easier to remove the Air charge piping from under neath the vehicle so you can do the proper grinding for the anti-rotational TMAP sensor, here's just a few of my pics from the install...GM should have their heads examined, Why would you put in rubber and plastic piping. Yes it is cheaper but well enough said. It's up to us to fix others mistakes. As I always say and will again thanks Turbotech another job well done.

Sounds Like X's dealer wants to bend him over ... OK enough of that!

My dealer also has gone above and beyond trying to help with both the price of the kit and the installation. Gage Chevrolet for any of you in Western Michigan.

I was charged for 2 hours but that was ok. I also through out the Bug in their ear that if the install went well, I would recommend other to them. The dealer "Power Chevy in peoria, AZ" were great and wanted to have conversation about the kit and the car itself. Glenn Craney was my sevice guy and was outstanding.

Is anyone having a problem stretching the new blue o-rings on to the sensors?? We broke the first o-ring we tried even though it was warmed up and well lubed, it just fits sooooo tight. We had an extra but before we break it I thought I'd ask if anyone else had a problem????? Suggestions?????

OK, we got a handle on the o-ring concern and the install went very good. The car runs awesome, has a ton of torque. The guys at GM Performance did a great job. Thanks to Bill as well!!

What did you end up doing with the troublesome o-rings? Any pointers?

Thx.

We used a little (VERY little) petroleum jelly on both parts and just handed the sensors and o-rings to our resident gorilla in the next bay who routinely works out and climbs rocks for fun. He managed to squeeze then on just using his fingertips and his vice-like grip. I couldn't get them past the half-way point (hey,I'm 61 years old and been a Service Manager too long ).

It would be nice if a little installation sleeve was provided like we use on the teflon transmission seals. At least the o-rings are common fuel injector o-rings so they are available if you screw one up.

Thanks for the feedback Retrorod... I guess I should search for a local dealer with a gorilla. Or, maybe the zoo is a suitable place to have it installed
