GM Performance Parts Turbo Upgrade Kit
Thank you very much. Now I'm ready for the stage 1 thanks to your answer. One last question you say the auto has 235 hp on 1st and 2nd gear. And 250 in 3rd. and 4th. So how will it be with the stage 1. How many HP in 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th. And if not to much to ask what about the turbo psi how much it will go up to the different gear or total . Thank you very much for your help.

The torque managment of the computer will vary it in all gears depending on conditions. So it is possible that it will give full torque in first but say not from a dead stop. The computer also drops the power for a fraction of a second at the shift points to make it smoother and protect the tranny. This trick is used on most cars today.
Note a engineer from GM perfromance watches over us and will help from time to time. It is nice to know GM is involved after the install.
Note too the first thing everyone asks is what the boost level should be. It will vary due to altitude, temp, load, speed etc. The computer will vary it depending on conditions.
You will see a max in most parts of the country between 20-23 PSI. Now under some conditions it may only go. to 19 PSI but other days will go to 24 PSi. Don't panic this is normal and we all see this.
You will love the change in First and Second gear.

I tried to send you a reply to your message but it would not go through. You may need to turn it on.
Sorry for the post in three times. First time using forum getting used to it. Question right now I still have not install stage 1 the dealer gave me appoinment to install on this coming friday. The question is how high can the boost go to without the stage. The highest psi i have seen is 13 to 15. Is this the right or normal? And also the tir of the muffler gets real hot is this normal. Thanks for all your help I'm new in this I really appreciate.
Without the upgrade normal boost is 15 psi during normal driving, when you step on the gas from a dead stop for example it'll go as high as 20psi. Which dealer is installing the upgrade for you??? Gengras Chevrolet in Hartford is a great dealer to get it done at. Welcome to the forum BTW!

Boost will go up & down during hills and acceleration.
That's normal.
Stock limit is about 15 PSI Max.
It'll reach as high as 24 PSI during WFO (pedal to the metal) with the stage kit but not stock.

Thanks for the info when you say in normal condition. What you mean? Because in normal driving boost goes up and down depend on throtle is this OK or can you explain me how the turbo really work.?This is my first Turbo experience ? Just bought the vehicle last week 04/29/10 is a 2010 HHR SS Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat. In other words I'm a rookie in this > Thanks for all your help.
In the old days you would step on the gas and wait then it would kick you in the butt. They were not smooth to drive and in many cases like the old T type Buick reliable till they improved them in 1984.
You own one of the best factory turbo's on the market forget the PSI and just drive it. Too many get wrapped up in the PSI and worry too much about it including myself. I have turned off my Boost on my Aerofrorce and watch other thing more now. But I still will peak at Boost once in a while.
I agree w/ Hyperv6. The turbo is managed pretty effectively by the ECU in our cars. Again in stock form you'll see the boost gauge read anywhere from 10-15 psi in regular driving (city, stop + go, and highway driving at say, a steady 65-75mph ride for example. Even that will fluctuate depending on road conditions too). If you're trying to merge onto the highway and you floor it you may see the boost gauge go as high as 20psi in stock form. With the upgrade you'll see about 22-23psi at WOT. Hope that helps.
Already Stage 1 Installed. Thanks to clear all my doubts before installing. 1 week already and have not hit it to hard to give chance to break in. But have punch it a little and what you said about the kick I will feel this was a real good feeling. Man this is power at about 30 mph hit it and with all the traction and other control on it smoke the the tires likr nothing just took the pedal off the gas. 1st and 2nd wonderful. What you think about 3rd and 4th. Thanks so far the experience been great.
Thanks also to you ashanti In helping me make the move also. Your HHR is auto right and you live in Waterbury CT? Have you kick some butt up there and if yes what kind of cars. We don"t see to many of our car around I mean HHR SS. Even less with the stage on. I'm from around Hartford.
