GM shows the love. 290hp, 340ftlb upgrade for $650
Did our first install today. Tech had all information gathered from this forum, the GM Tech Forum and all bulletins. I had already called TAC to get the VIN loaded with the program (20 minutes of time on the phone). Tech read through the pages in the instructions. re-read what I had furnished him and began the install at 10:42am.
Tech decided to solder instead of the butt connectors. Heeded most advice from techs on this forum but decided not to remove the IC pipe. Sensors installed and programming done at 1:46pm. Vehicle would not start. Looked at the TMAP wiring again corrected 2 wires. Vehicle fired right up time was 1:57pm.
I test drove and hit 19 PSI boost and the power was amazing.
The 1.0 or 1.2 hours that GM states for this install is a JOKE. The instructions are vague and the bulletins reference other bulletins that do not exist. I quoted 2.0 hours to the owner, who is a forum member, and stuck with that. I went ahead and paid the tech 3.0 hours. I don't mind paying for training it only makes my shop better. Total charge to the owner was $160.00.
Until GM comes up with a better wiring color code set-up, a TMAP that doesn't need to be modified to fit, faster phone time (20 minutes is ridiculus) and a decent set of instructions we will be charging 3.0 hours for the install. The $80.00 rate is what I charge for any accessory installation. I am not booking these at our $99.50 door rate.
The positive side of this is I met a great forum member, I got to learn something new today and got to drive a Stage 1 HHR!

Good stuff ChevyMgr. But wouldn't you rather drive an HHR SS with the Stage.

I think my dealership did me well too as your input into how difficult it is to get all the info together can cause long install times. And ya' I told my service guy that the stated 1.2 Hrs was ridiculous. No disrespect to our forum good guy Bill

Could one of the moderators start a closed FAQ thread for all things relating to the turbo upgrade? As of now the info is scattered across several threads that are all several pages long, and is a little tougher to get to. Doing this would ensure that moderators could keep the information up to date and separate from everyone's questions and comments about the upgrade.
Some potential things to include:
-contents of the kit
-power and torque specs, dyno charts as they become available
-prices/labor (as best as can be estimated)
-known install issues and tips for techs
-known post-install issues and fixes
Dunno, it just seems like if all this was collected in one spot that was just a single post stickied at the top of the 2.0 Performance section, it would be a lot easier for everyone here and any new future members to reference the information.

More Torque More HP is the man that gave me plenty of info. He was on the engineering team that developed the Kit. Now, if only the Techs that install the Kit would only follow the fixes that we in the forum have gotten from some excellent people here, I feel that the install would be smoother for them. Maybe the Techs have to follow a certain procedure in the shop where they work...
Yup, take as long as possible for non-warranty work so we can charge more for a simple repair or modification especially when things are slow and we don't have enough cars to fill your 8 hour day.
