At least you have a real turbo under the hood. The "real ricers" in my neck of the woods use these on their Honda and Toyota fart cans, then they put a "turbo" sticker on the side of the car...

I did it myself last summer when a buddy wanted to cut a hole on the lid so that it would get more air. I took his idea but without cutting. Lol. I put 1/2 inch pacers in the front bolts. It made a significant difference in sound. But the sound really came to life when I installed the catless downpipe and with open lid. So far no noticiable power loss or gain. But awesome sound.

Mine is spaced up 3/4" in front and 1/4" in the rear. You can hear the BOV a lot better. Looking at the air flow under the hood, it's got to help some, especially after I trimed up the air deflector over the radiator to get more airflow under the hood,[another free mod].
Just in case you have'nt noticed, the HHR hood is not sealed on the sides, so lots of the hot air gets vented to the back of the compartment and out the side of the hood, and against the firewall and out the bottom. From over the radiator back to the airbox, there is'nt much hot air to deal with.`Much cheaper than a CAI, and might work just as good. Sure sounds wicked too.
"Moon"
Their is a seal that fits over the raised metal so air cannot get in on the sides as mine was missing one on 1 side about $10.00 from the dealer also keeps the rain out.

Sorry, I forgot all about this. I will post a pic when I can get the engine bay cleaned up. I haven't really done anything to make it look pretty yet. I need to check my ait readings when the weather warms up. They look fine now, if they don't raise much ill pretty it up and leave it.
