K&N lid important??

I have a 08 SS with a K&N kit installed. But wondering about the lid itself. The lid is just pretty ugly I want to put the stock lid back on but I'm just wondering if it would hamper my cars performance since the K&N lid gives the filter a little bit more room than the stock lid. Any thoughts on this?

I hope the lid is not what made mine run so much better when I installed the K&N. I did switch the lid, you will have to give it a try and let us know how it works.

Hope you don't throw a P 101 code.....

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. I guess I'll give it a shot.
