I put about 3-4k on my hhr a month, only 93 octane goes into my car, once I had to put in a few gallons of 91 once. if I didn't want the performance I wouldn't have bought my ss.

it says right on the fuel door...premium recommended and your not running it...yea it cost a bit more...but i rather have the added octane than not...and increase the chances of detonating

steveshow Thank you to everyone who actually took the time to answer the question I asked in a mature, adult like manner. To everyone else, your replies are a perfect answer to why I hardly ever come on this forum. If I wanted to be talked AT like I was a 15 yo kid, I would go back to my old job. Did it ever occur to any of you that I had reasons to ask what I did? I don't feel like I need to explain myself. You all might take into consideration that some people have better things to do than to pour tons of money into a brand new car. You might try doing a frame off restoration on a real musclecar sometime. I have. MY HHR SS is daily transportation. I put around 400 miles a week on mine.
Adding a meth injection system vs filling w/ premium fuel (91 or 93 octane) isn't a valid argument for the long-term cost "savings" perceived. Keep in mind that you will be forced to CONTINUOSLY buy the mixture of meth/alcohol to put into the meth tank at how much per gallon in order to get the best results? Keep in mind that if the meth/alky mixture runs out you're back on NON premium gas if you run 87 octane for example, so help me out here . To my knowledge only one person on here (XXL) was contemplating meth injection but no one knows for sure if he succeeded or not.

In the long run forget about the meth injection kit UNLESS you're trying to turn the SS into a track only car where that may get you a few tenths in the qm, or you plan on stuffing a GT37R in there. If this is your DD as you said then leave it stock and run 87, 91, or 93 at your preference and as your pocket allows. You brag about building a frame off restoration (yes I know that can run anywhere from $20K to $100K+ depending on the vehicle, the depth of restoration,WHO does the work, etc... I know because my father has had quite the collection of cars in the past...) yet are looking to penny pinch on fuel- That's an oxymoron, no? Case in point: my SS is my DD and you can see the list of mods I've done to her, I've filled it with 93 premium since I drove it of the lot, and my daily commute is 120 miles roundtrip. Mind you in CT premium is at it's lowest right now and that's still $2.79/gal here on average; I've paid $3.50+ at other times. If you want a performance vehicle then realize that it [I]may[I/] require premium fuel to operate at it's peak. If you leave your SS stock, then you can run as low as 87 if needed (91 recommended) but at a penalty of roughly 20hp per the owner's manual... There's my adult answer for you.

Although the OP opened this door, let's be civil in our postings. No personal attacks please.

But what is this Snow Cooler you speak of? I have not heard that term before.

Snow Performance markets a meth injection kit much like Devil'sOwn does. You can purchase it direct from them, or I've seen the kits available at Jeg's and Summit too. I'm assuming that most are somewhat familiar with what meth injection can offer to a modified engine (I know little myself save the bare basics). But "Snow Performance" is the name of the company. Hope that clarifies some of the confusion. Oh, and if that was meant in part towards me I meant no disrespect to the OP, I just tried to steer him away from wasting money needlessly, hence the at the end of my post.
