you mean bone stock Cobalt SS right? I would think there's no way a non-turbo Cobalt would beat you but as Tuanies mentioned a stock Cobalt SS has a good power to weight ratio and much better aerodynamics.

Exclamation

I have to say that I am having a problem right now with sluggishness 'if you will'. I noticed that I may be experiencing my first sounds of compressor surge. My first gear hast totally lost it ooomph; i really cant' even spin the tires in first AT ALL. Manual tranny too at that. Anyone out there ever hear of the stock BOV getting stuck maybe???? When I rev. the engine just to downshift in a turn going into second. The engine even sound like it missfires. Sitting at a light, if I just touch the peddle for a little exhaust sound. The engine sounds like it looses power. My exhaust seems lesser in volume. I launched the other day, hardly no spin. NOW WHEN I GET INTO SECOND HEAR, YOU BETTER HOLD YOUR S%^T. That baby goes. Something is not right. /VERY LATE BOOST/ I have tightened my T-bolts. I Think this Stage 1 power has messed up my BOV some kind of way. Hearing surge at very low speeds "CH CH CH CH when pushing in the clutch for stop", no ooomph from the line (like Bov is stuck open slightly loosing low in boost), and sounds like a missfire, lop like, sluggish start when taking off. Any thoughts?

was there a service bulletin about certain models for the blowoff valve??? If not, there is some sort of upgrade... I'm not 100% sure without looking it up, but I've read something about them recently.

A stage 1 HHR SS should run with a stock Cobalt SS. There are two many variables with the biggest being to driver. I have seen Cobalt SS run 14.4's-14.5's all day at the track. I know they can do better than that. A few HHR SS owners have hit low 14's bone stock.

Look at Crazysteve running 13.1 at 105 with only tuning, exhaust and slicks and IC mods. Obviously he has pretty much mastered his launch which is why he is almost in the 12's on a stock turbo without race gas or meth etc. A 13.1 run with a 105 trap means his 60' was outstanding. It's all in your 60'. The best I have ever seen a stage 1 coballt ss do at the track was 13.4 at 107. However, I know they have the potential to turn better ET's given the trap speed.

Seat time will be our biggest mod especially since they are front wheel drive.

If he's running slicks (as you quoted) he SHOULD have outstanding 60' times in an HHR!

You are correct. SHOULD. I see a lot of people at the track who still get crappy 60' foots on slicks because they:

1. Don't know how to do a proper burn out to heat up the tires.
2. They launch at the wrong rpm and bog of the start.

I see a lot of difference between performance on warm and cool days. As little as 10 degrees makes a big difference.

You know, my Stage kit is wonderful but is such a waste because of the wheel spin. I also feel that 1st gear is too short and worthless. I sometimes use 2nd gear to start.

Have you thought of trying some aftermarket suspension parts to help you hook in 1st or some better tires up front? Once my wife's SS gets tuned I will definiately upgrade to a better tire.

Yeah... My wife just got a great job so we'll have more money to spend and I can mess with my HHR more.
