Is there a difference in clearing the ECU and deleting codes with scanner tool? Do they basically do the same task?
Thanks

What we call a battery lobotomy works well as it reboots the computer.
Simply disconnect the ground terminal at the battery for 30 minutes.
Do not close the rear hatch , and fold a towel to place on the latch just in case you forget and close it by habit.
clearing the codes does exactly that , it doesn’t reset the computers

Ok I have erased codes with my tester several times the codes always return I will do the neg battery tip maybe it will straighten out any computer glitches. Gonna go buy a better OBD-11 scan tool today one with bluetooth and a maybe cable to connect my pc in case I decide to buy PC software that I've read about.
Unless someone out there can suggest or recommend a decent scan tool for my Cobalt.
Thanks

If the codes are coming back, then the OBD system is still detecting a problem. You seem to think it's a computer "glitch" ? Highly doubtful.
Sounds like the sensors are doing their job and alerting you to a problem.
Some more diagnostics is needed.

Yes I understand and agree but the shop who replace clutch kit told me to clear codes again plug in scanner tool and drive it more then I should see what the order on which
the codes appear or fail. Well I was reading about resetting the ECU last night they said resetting the ECU (power it down) will also reset the Adaptive Memory and the Quick learn so I figure trying that can't hurt. Of course we all know the written rule don't believe what you see or read on the internet. EXCEPT OLDBLUE!
Thanks
