Quarter mile times?

A couple months ago I finally took the plunge and bought the Stage kit through the Crate Engine Depot group buy. I finally got around to having it installed last week.

Before having it installed, I got out my trusty G-Tech to get some baseline numbers. With about 200 lbs of passenger and stuff in the cargo area it ran a best of 15.02 @ 102.5.

Today with no extra stuff or passengers it ran 14.91 @ 105.5 mph. Better, but not what I expected. The traction problem is worse in 1st gear, and boost is in the low 20's.

The car is completely stock with all original parts with the execption of new AC Delco spark plugs 2,000 miles ago at 50,000 miles. It's a 5 speed with LSD.

What are you seeing?

Don't forget to factor in ambient temperature, hot days are the worst to run at the track because engines like a cooler intake charge. For the best performance try to make a pass when its about 70 degrees ambient with slightly elevated humidity, you'd be surprised how much time you can knock off your E.T.

I have one of the originals from when I first learned of them in 98 or so. When the newer, better G Techs came out a friend bought one and I did a comparison. My old unit gave almost identical readings. I know they're not 100% accurate, but they give a baseline.

That said, my wife's 99 Deville ran 14.90s at 98 mph with this G Tech and the same test area. I think tires may be needed.

On a really good day, our cars will run a low 13.... With a ton of mods might be able to break 12's

the whole 70 degree thing is why I am still intrested in Co2 for the IC

i've always found that the BEST way to see how fast your car is in a straight line...... is to actually take it to the track. not only do you see how fast your car is, you also get to really test your driving skills.

i don't trust any electronic device that supposedly can measure power, 1/4 mile times, 60' time, 0-60 time, etc etc etc.

My BEST 1/4 mile time to date is 14.02 @ 99.8x mph. That's with the bolt on's listed in my sig except the K&N intake (@ the time I just had the filter only) and intercooler piping. On a different day I ran consistent 14.20's @ 99.xx mph- main difference was a big stereo system and about 110 lbs of dynamat in my SS. I only run at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. I'll be getting tuned this weekend so hopefully I can break into the 13's once that's done.

Later

your mph indicate a much lower trap time is possible....even low 13's....possibly a bad 60ft time?
