Quick change CAI

Quick change CAI
I'm finalizing my new CAI, thats been on the drawing boards for awhile.
The setup I will be using, will be a true CAI, that seals the hood scoop to the new air box lid, and can be quickly changed back to stock[6 bolts] in a matter of mins., for rainy weather, or trips to dealership for oil changes[don't want to get them excited].
Here's what I am doing:
1. Made template for stock air box lid, and plotted air filter location for cutout.
2. Had TAP Plastics cut out new air box lid from 3/16's ABS with cutout for hood scoop mating, that mounts flat.
3. mounted lid and plotted opening for hood scoop cutout.
4. For a better mateing, found my hood scoop needs to be a little wider. So, going to find a wider hood scoop for better fit.
5.Once new scoop is installed and hood cutout to match cutout in new air box lid, will fab a rubber sealing ring to hood, to seal airbox to hood.
Nice thing about this it can be quickly returned to stock, using stock mounting bolts, or converted to a CAI. I used only four bolts for new lid, instead of all six.

Sweet! So you have deceided to keep the scoop off-center? or are you gonna go with the big shaker style over the center?
I would love a similar set-up, but I was thinking more along the lines of the scoop mounting to the air-box, then protruding through the hood. Javalin style.

If it rains or looks like it's going to: simple put the stock lid back on. Takes only a couple of mins. Out here in Nor-cal, rainy season ends pretty quick, and does'nt rain until around November. Lots of dry time.
The scoop that I'm going with[found one] is same length, one inch higher, and almost twice as wide. New scoop will be wide enough to cover the whole air filter. Nothing off center, in case I do decide to put racing stripes on it later.
P.S. The extra material on the lid at the front is where I'll be mounting the SS logo.

Nice work moon
Rain will not be an issue, Unless your driving under water. i have about 45,000 miles with my scoop, and have taped it off 3 times in the rain, and driven in many storms with zero problems.
