Lol my post was a smart ass post. Honestly only times you should hit redline is at a track. And unless you you have more than a tune, still even shift before. As a old mechanic once told me, redline is like a magical spot that gives you double the mileage... double the mileage of wear and tear.

I got ya and totally agree. This wasnt a question of what are benefits of redline just, "whoops that's redline, I hope my car is ok..."

hitting redline wont hurt,,thats why its there...safety margin...try the German way..they see redline, car is designed to able to run at that limit...........so they do! But then they trade in every three years. Was talking to a polish businessman one night and he said he came cross country at redline, does it all the time. Makes good time running at 245Kph, course, when theres no speed limit on the main hwyways.........
