Started clutch install today

I started my install of the Spec 3+ clutch and Spec Flywheel.
I've got about 4 hrs tototal in it today in between breaks, tending tot he dogs and picking my daughter up from school.
I'm also using jack stands and a engine hoist.

I'm right at the point to loosen the bolts and drop the transmission itself out of the HHR SS.

I could see a transmission shop being able to do the whole thing in 5 hrs, I have no idea why the service manual says 8.1 hrs.

I will probably have that (8 hrs) in my swap and I'm using jack stands, a engine hoist and doing it solo for the first time.
I'm pretty confident if I ever had to do it again i could get the Trans dropped in 2 hrs now that I know what to do.

Only sad thing is wife gets to drive it to work and back to get 500 break in miles.
It would take me 2 months with my daily routine to get that in.

If you need a hand breaking it in, just ask. I'm sure a few of us wouldn't mind helping out!!! LOL

You do realize that your wife's making out like a bandit and then some in this deal right? I mean, you build it to make great HP and TQ, upgrade the clutch, and she's your "tester"?!?! My stepdaughter would KILL to drive my SS lol, Just wanted to point that out for your lucky lady.

Its the best way for me to get miles for break in.

She can drive a modified car and manual shift pretty good.

Shes drove my 5 spd awd talon, grand national, trans am and monte carlo all with built motors at one point or another.

Even got in a few stop light races with people pulling up reving at her

Write ups take to long, you have to stop to take photos, then go back and fill in all that info. Big pain in the butt.
