torn, upgrade and tune or not

Hey all
need some help here... I am torn as to what to do with my SS. I am new to the family here, had for about 2 months now. I recently got the HP VCM suite, and would like to upgrade I/C and piping and exhaust, mainly downpipe. I currently have the GM tune upgrade and am very happy with the power! BUT if I consider the I/C and pipes and exhaust I will HAVE to tune right! to be honest I am happy wiith the GM tune and the power, and this being an Auto, I know there is not a whole lot I can do before I start to wear and tear the drive train! and with Gm warranty about to run out, is it worth it to mess with!
your thoughts?!

I have stg-1, and Trifecta. I never ever run the chevy tune, it's not so many more HP, around 300 but it is applied way better and he retunes the transmission for quicker shifts.

While installing some mods mine was boosting 30, felt like 400hp, I could feel the drivetrain straining to hold it. Between 3 and 4 I believe the tranny will handle it.

I see that HP Tuners has a trifecta tune they offer, but is it just a base tune or is it something that you still work with Vince @ Trifecta on?
also if I do gut or change downpipes does it require a tune?
same with a new intercooler, require a tune?
if so I just want to make sure that I get these items before I do a tune, then have to go back and re-tune

I see that HP Tuners has a trifecta tune they offer
That will never happen...

I recently got the HP VCM suite
You got it ? And aren't using it ?
That's like having a women, & not using it... What's the point...

if I do gut or change downpipes does it require a tune?
No
same with a new intercooler, require a tune?
No

Most stuff is really not needed.

The only engine mod that I have is the K&N intake system.
The only exhaust mod you need, is to 'core' the 2nd cat.
The only chassis mod you need, ia a TurboTech engine mount.

then have to go back and re-tune
You did say that you have HPTuner, right ?
So that means you'll be scanning, & applying minor 'tweets', right,
if needed ?

If you've never tuned before, go to HPTuners to learn...
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...357-LNF-Guides

Always ask questions, & more questions, is it's part of the learning
curve...
It's best if you know someone near you with HPTuner too....

i have been asking a lot of questions about the HP tuner to support, they have been great in replies, my only issue is I dont have a damn laptop!!
I am getting on the cobalt forum to see if someone local has tuned and can help. I also will contact some local forum members here about it.
I have to get my car connected and licensed, then I will check out the link you sent, thanks for that BTW!!
I just got the VCM suite from Sick1, an old member here, and trust me I am so anxious to play with it!!
when you do a tune, and already have the GM tune, did you "apply" it to say the cruise button or traction control button or is it always there, like the GM tune?
last, you gutted your downpipe, and I read your threads on that and would like to do just that, and I have an extra DP but its a 5spd DP, and I have an auto, which I remember you said are slightly different. So I will be posting it for sale or trade for an auto.
