I believe he's one of the tuners over at CSS.net. Try looking him up there and see what they say about him. Sorry I can't recall his screen name but from lurking over there, I believe that's who you're referring to. Hope that helps.

I've been doing my own programming on an OBD1 system, highly modded 1993 Caprice wagon TPI'd speed density system, 450 horse.
What is needed to log an 2009 SS ECM. Obviously my OBD 1 package isn't going to work this time. Can't say I've seen much here in specifying the hardware portions of the issue that are required..

I've only had it like this for a day, but you can feel a big difference, especially in the mid range. Laid a streak of rubber one long block.

As far as reliability once again, just had it for a day, so don't know yet.

I also had a Vince do a tune for my 2007 impala SS. NOW that's a world of difference. It's a a solid monster and pulls like there is no tomorrow.

From a standing start we lit the tires up so much that you could barely see behind the car and tire smoke came through the dash vents. (no joke).

It just pulls and pulls and pulls and make you grin ear to ear.

Vince does a great job, now I hope i don't blow too much stuff up.

P.S. I should add that I dig driving the HHR SS and whether it's a 14.6 quarter mile car or 13.6 really doesn't matter that much.

The things I've added to it like the turbo tech mounts, dual magnaflows, vince's tune I did for fun and it's increased the enjoyment of the car, though the car was good for the start, especially as most people know here driving it.

Not that this relates to this forum, but the huge change with the Trifecta tune is with the Impala SS. It's now so rock solid strong and prior had a flew glitches in the way the trans shifted, the response and the way the traction control would kick in.

Now you would be hard pressed to know it's a front driver, except for all that smoke pouring off the front tires.

The cool thing is people like vince and all the other small suppliers that make parts for these budget hot rods have increased the enjoyment. They're fun, they're fast and for the buck they can't be beat.

Really this is just a note of thanks to the suppliers and everyone on this forum for such great advice.

If you look at the factory plastic piping & clamps, the clamp that goes on the turbo is spring loaded. It is recommended to use this type on the turbo when you put the after market pipes on. The spring loaded clamps allow for expansion which occurs the most at that location. The rest are standard t-bolt stainless steel clamps.

Check out this place:

Lower hot side/intercooler clamp - TB238
My receipt is ripped/missing the section for the spring loaded clamp part number.
I believe I ordered TB213 under the B9224 Heavy Duty Spring Loaded listing for the turbo side.
Hope this helps.
can you post a different link. That seems to be dead.

The mainly stock [cheaper] tune is the budget tune.
A person would have to contact Vince at Trifecta to find out all the differences between the two tunes, as to boost levels, ect.
Bottom line: you want fresh oats or you want oats that have already come through the horse. "Moon"
If I go Trifecta I'm going max hidden power.

That is one way I'm leaning... thanks for the input.

This thread is kinda old, but it's what showed up on the search, so I'll start here. My SS Auto is stone stock, and I don't have a lot of motivation to change it; it already goes and stops plenty good.

Can I do the budget tune without any other changes? How much power will it add..is it a bigger difference because the stock Auto starts detuned? Does the budget tune have the "hide" feature?

Thanks,
Remi

You will see a big difference with the tune. The budget tune is canned so conservative. But it should put you above the GM upgrade tune power level which is 60 more then stock.

From the Trifecta site it looks like the tune should be stealth since it is loaded with the EZ Flash cable. You can email Vince and ask him. He is great to work with if you have questions. Trifecta site link is in my sig

Dude, you're not kidding. I just emailed him, and he got back to me almost before I was finished typing! Very impressed.
