very disapointed in performance
Your reaction time looks good, I could be wrong but the 60' should be as close to 2 seconds as possible for a stock car to get the best results. My first time at the track my launches just plain suck ass and my 60' are about the same as yours for times.
from what I have seen the 60 ft times are about the same for everyone, I dont think the car is capable of much more in its present configuration, the harder you try the more you spin, now if a guy had drag tires and a sticky track, you might flirt with 1.9, it seems to me that a auto might be quicker at 60 ft, it would have less tendency to spin, but I couldnt tell you for sure bc mine is 5sp.
Too much weight shift on launch with our cars....need to add something to temporarily stiffen the rear to prevent compression of the rear suspension. This will enable more weight to stay on top of the tires to increase traction. That weight shift is the main reason for loss of traction upon launch.

My best run, stock 5sp LSD, was 14.75 @95 mph, this was with a 2.26 60' time (tire pressure 22lbs). I dont think you are far off from reaching your goal. Remember one half of a second is not a very long time, but it is so elusive in drag racing.
Heat soak can be detrimental to optimal performance. Once you get to the track let it cool down some. I bring some ice packs to put on the piping and airbox to help her cool down during breaks.
Sucks about your tranny, wheel-hop is a tranny killer with the SS. Make sure you clean the rubber off your wheel wells before seeking warranty repairs

it's simple:
1. stop racing on the stock tires!!! 15 in dr and steelies. to get the 60ft. down you have to eliminate spin as much as possible.
2. our cars are pigs!!! it's a station wagon and at the end of the day,it's still an hhr. not to be an ass,but if you are looking for quick times with this set up a cobalt or better yet a solstice would be a better fit.
3. upgrade engine mounts and upgrade parts. it was never said these cars would run low 14's or high 13's stock.
4. learn to drive te car.

mighty mouse you are spot on, and you are right they are just a station wagon, but when I first started really looking into performance I may have listened to some of the wrong people and GM being one of them, and there may have been a few exaggrations(sp?)here from a few others, so a 15 flat down to a 14.6 is about it for a stocker w/stage kit. Really my big goal is to do enough mods to kill mustang gt's on a regular basis and stock they run 14.10's so if I can get mt et's down to 13.5 my driving will take care of the rest. Im a little rusty at the 1/4 mile track but with a little more practice I will be able to get the win lite with hole shots its rare when one of theese kids beat me out of the hole, thats atleast in the street tire catagory. now I just gotta figure what mods to start with, for sure I am getting the exhaust and intercooler and piping , does anyone know where to get a crazysteve intercooler, I have a muffler guy who has a mandrel bending machine and we will just make a custom unit or copycat one, 3" from engine to rear with 1 high flow cat, Im in cali, then maybe a aftermarket tuner ,turbo bov spring, oh I need to know where to get 1 of those too, my biggest problem is finding time to get it all done, then after that I dont know well see how it runs and if I havent found what I want yet maybe Ill juice it.
