Warranty with the Stage Kit

I saw on one of the sites that if the kit is installed after the purchase of the vehicle it is warranted for 12 mo/12,000 miles. If it is purchsed in conjunction with the vehicle purchase (same time) the warranty is the same as the vehicle. True or False.....or kind of right?

It is warranted at least until the end of the factory warranty or 12K miles, whichever is longer if I recall. If you install it with 6K miles, you are covered until 36K. If you were to install it with say 30K on the car, it would be covered for 12K miles... to 42K miles.

No, look the second post on this page: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...rranty&page=13

See the second message. 12,000 or factory warranty whichever is longer.

Correct. Kind of, because it depends on how you purchase the kit.

Technically here is the rule on over the counter retail parts. If you purchase one from the web or walk in and buy the kit from the parts department. You only get a 12 month warranty as with all retail parts sold to a consumer (except goodwrench transmissions and engines).

If you go to the service department and the kit is charged out on the same repair order that the install is done you get the 12 month/12000 mile warranty.

Now that is how the Policy and Procedure Manual reads, but most service departments are not going to be splitting hairs on this issue and will probably follow the 12month/12Kmile warranty.

That really seems to differ from what ChevyMgr is saying though. Unless I'm missing something. Buying the Stage kit has the potential to REDUCE as well as extend your original warranty.

If the install is done with less than 24K miles, the warranty is 36k miles. If over 24K miles, add 12K miles to however many miles you have when installed.

Then why the conflict of information between what you and ChevyMgr are saying? I'd hope that your position on this is the correct one but as a service manger what ChevyMgr says seems to carry quite a bit of weight as well.
