GM Accessories: Warranty Administration Overview
The following information is being provided to clarify various aspects of warranty and material returns associated with Dealer or ADI-installed GM Accessories:
• Material Return Claims: If a GM Accessories product (purchased through an ADI) is found to be defective prior to or during installation, the Dealer should exchange the part for a new one through an ADI. The ADI should file a New Defective Material Return Claim and include the appropriate error code. ADIs should continue to use as a guideline the existing Process / Policy Bulletin (ADI05-036) (June 23, 2005).
• Warranty Claims: If a previously installed GM Accessory is being replaced (under warranty), the Dealer would perform the repair or sublet the repair to the ADI. The Dealer would then submit the Warranty Claim to General Motors – as ADIs do not have the ability to file a Warranty Claim.
• Warranty Coverage: All GM Accessories sold and permanently installed on a GM vehicle by a GM Dealer or GM-approved Accessory Distributor / Installer (ADI) prior to delivery will be covered under the applicable portion (Bumper to Bumper, Powertrain, etc) of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. In the event GM Accessories are installed after vehicle delivery, or are replaced under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, they will be covered (parts and labor) for the balance of the applicable portion of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, but in no event less than 12 months / 12,000 miles. GM Accessories sold over-the-counter, or those not requiring installation, will continue to receive the standard GM Dealer Parts Warranty of 12 months from the date of purchase (parts only).

Bill, If installed after the sale of the vehicle, the parts installed only have a 12/12000 per the document above.
This part of the document seems to disagree with you.

The "or" is the key. The reason the statement reads this way is for a customer who has less than 12,000 miles or 12 months until the expiration of their New Vehicle Limited Warranty and a dealer installed part needs replacing. So there are 2 statements there either A) Installed after the delivery of the vehicle or B) Are being replaced due to the fact that they are covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (ie Installed at the time of the sale).
Example: The vehicle has 30,000 miles and it has an accessory go bad. The new installed part would not go out of it's parts warranty at 36,000 but rather at 42,000 miles. Which is where the "but in no event less than 12 months / 12000 miles" comes from.
They wouldn't need this statement if what you are reading into it was true:
• Warranty Coverage: All GM Accessories sold and permanently installed on a GM vehicle by a GM Dealer or GM-approved Accessory Distributor / Installer (ADI) prior to delivery will be covered under the applicable portion (Bumper to Bumper, Powertrain, etc) of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
So "balance of the applicable portion of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty" has no meaning then?
Customer has stage kit installed at 15,000 miles. You stated the kit warranty runs out at 27,000 miles. The above line says in runs out at 36,000 miles therefore the kit actually gets a 21,000 mile warranty, not the 12K you claim.
I understand what you say about min of 12K but you seem to be saying that it is a maximum of 12K as well.
What am I missing here?

What I typed in post #25.
There are two statements. One concerning coverage for accessories that are covered by the Limited warranty and one concerning coverage for installed after purchase. I can't help that GM worded it that way, but you will not get any dealer to cover an accessory that was installed AFTER the purchase, to cover that accessory more than 12,000 miles or 12 months.

Could a dealership give you any trouble if you bought the kit from the net (http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...0-P2292C0.aspx
) then asked them to install it or should I have no problems since it is genuine gm parts?

Warranty
Since I am away from my work computer until Monday I can not provide you the documentation until then which I will post for you. There is a bulletin out that covers/explains the warranty on the Turbo upgrade kit.
The Turbo Upgrade Kit is warranted for the longer of the remaining vehicle/powertrain warranty or 12 months or 12,000 miles, including all kit parts and does not affect the vehicle warranty at all.
