what are my chances of getting a code with a k&n filter installed.
I have read a lot on this and have received some great advice on adding a k&n filter on my ss looking to see how many have thrown a code though.from what I have read its around a 25% chance?

Fairly high considering that K&N seems to be over oiling the filter elements, I looked at two when considering maybe adding one as an experiment, and both were just sopping wet out of the box.
As you know, that excess oil can become aerosolized and coat the MAF, then you'll throw a code.
I just didn't want to buy a filter only to end up buying the filter cleaner and oil so that I could do what they should have done properly at the factory.

First thing I did, to both of them and the bimmer. I found owning extra filters gives you the chance to get them prepped well. Using 2 or 3 extremely light coats when oiling them, giving adequate time to wick in between coats. They are a pink color when I stick them in. I removed the MAF,for a cleaning after 60k and found it almost perfect, cleaned it anyway. I like them, but I like our stock CAI, I haven't seen any reason to change the design.

Mine is great no cel for that unless i put on the lid, but she was tuned stupidly without the lid. Before the tune i ran her with the lid, and no cel.
K&n filters shouldnt throw a code, unless something throws it way outa wack.

Your chances are slim to high. Every car is different. Some have zero issues, others have nothing but CEL's coming on.
And in my case, the CEL P0101 code only comes on during the colder months when running the K&N. So during the winter I run a stock filter.
