I'll have to see from my paperwork what it was... It is one of the pipes that a Stage kit sensor plugs into. It was damaged when the kit was installed. The part that has so far been replaced was actually not on backorder; The other part that GM tech line told the dealer to replace is. The other part is the actuator solenoid (which includes another pipe) and it is to be replaced as a precaution. Right now I don't mind waiting for that part since the car works properly.

Sure sounds like you have a leak somewhere, but it could be anything. Hopefully they can call into the tech line and figure out which pipe is damaged/cracked/whatever. Good luck!

The lower sensor is in the cold pipe, right side, from the intercooler to throttle body. As stated, the sensor is very close to the A/C Compressor.

Ah..this is what I suspect also as the only time it occurs is under hard acceleration, especially after making a hard turn when the eng gets all jacked up....dealer here had a hard time with the install and I bet he didn't pay any attention to the part about the sensor trim either......still no codes, thats the funny part.......I momentarily lose boost and it comes right back aget backing off the throttle..maybe thats not enough time for a code to set.

Thanks.
It was the Charge Air Inlet Duct between cooler and TBI. It is also shown as the Charge Air Cooler Outlet elsewhere in the paperwork. P/N 15933162

Go to this link and there is information on how they "should" install the LNF upgrade.

http://www.sandyblogs.com/techlink/2...grade-kit.html

Somewhere else on this forum is information about cracked tubes that leak.

As I've said it was obvious to me that the standard line from the dealer and GM is "it's the actuator" which is always back ordered, but if you talk to the people that tune this car the actuator rarely fails.

You should set up a support case, spac number, with GM because at least it puts the dealer on notice, but don't expect much from the GM tech/contact person because the person that called me knew nothing about cars . . . any cars.

It's like everyone that knows about this car at GM was sent home.

Now in GM's defense or to our good fortune, it's amazing to me that GM made this upgrade, but if I did it again, I would have bypassed the whole upgrade and gone with someone like Trifecta or Dejon or anyone that keeps you out of the GM system.

P.S.

There is also some tsb notes that the chevy mgr. (on this site) posted.

#09-06-93-004: Intermittent MIL/Check Engine Light On, DTC P0299 or P0234 Set (Adjust Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator) - (Jul 21, 2009)

Subject: Intermittent MIL/Check Engine Light On, DTC P0299 or P0234 Set (Adjust Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator)

Models: 2008-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR

2008-2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP

2008-2009 Saturn SKY Redline

2008-2009 Opel GT

2008 Daewoo G2X

with Engine RPO LNF and LDK (Europe)

Please Refer to GMVIS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment that the SES light is on. Upon inspection, you may find DTC P0299 (Turbocharger Engine Underboost) or P0234 (Turbocharger Engine Overboost) set.

Cause
This condition may be caused by a mis-adjusted wastegate.

Correction
Note: The wastegate adjustment is sometimes a very fine process. When adjusting the wastegate, only small adjustments should be made. Loosen one nut at a time and only adjust the nut one turn at a time; then tighten the other nut against the shaft and test drive to verify. This may have to be performed several times to achieve the desired boost level. To ensure proper adjustment, the vehicle should be at full operating temperature when testing. The vehicle will be very hot and may need to cool between adjustments. Too large of an adjustment can cause repeat DTCs.

Adjust the turbocharger wastegate. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Adjustment in SI.

Troubleshooting Tips for DTC P0299 - Turbocharger Engine Underboost
To increase boost, adjust the nuts (in) towards the actuator; in essence making the shaft shorter.

Troubleshooting Tips for DTC P0234 - Turbocharger Engine Overboost
To reduce boost, adjust the nuts (out) towards the end of the shaft; in essence making the shaft longer.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
A technician may encounter a vehicle with a low boost/power condition and/or DTC P0299 and or P0101 setting. This may be the result of a cracked or broken fitting at the turbocharger assembly.

Recommendation/Instructions:
It has been determined that the nipple for the turbocharger wastegate actuator may be damaged causing this condition. If this concern is noted please inspect the area on the underside of the turbo compressor housing for the wastegate actuator solenoid valve. The nipple (see CALLOUT #1) may have been damaged causing a loss of boost pressure. It may be necessary to remove the charge air duct for a closer inspection. See eSI "Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Replacement" for solenoid replacement procedure.

This solenoid is available separate from the turbocharger and should be replaced as a sub assembly. Do not replace the turbocharger assembly.

My car came back from the install with the no boost over 13 problem. The dealer simply used the wrong download from GM. Using the proper one fixed the problem.

Different problem here. Mine worked fine for a year, then stopped working properly. The pics pretty well explain why.

Mine post was just FYI information for someone who came accross the thread after a fresh install with this problem before they start gutting their engine, check the program I got mine home and immediatly assume something was broke after reading this thread, started checking pipe and nipples, calling the installer names... ended up being simple.

Yet Another Update

So my very frustrated service writer calls today to say that he's 99.99% sure he's found the problem (post actuator replacement). Looks like the GPMM certified dealer in Phoenix that installed my upgrade screwed the pooch when trying to protect the lower sensor wires from scraping the AC unit. Found a rub-through spot and is attacking that. Fingers crossed.
