I still have never read, nor do I believe, that the HHr's 2.2 EcoTech is D.I., no matter what the year.

 

My son's '09 Cobalt 2.2 is throttle body fuel injection (LAP). The '09 has variable valve timing. The 2010 2.4 LAF is DI. Maybe this is what we're referring to.

 

They have a noticable injector tick when they idle, especially when cold. The 2.2L Eco, is by no means the only engine that has that noise, but because they are very quiet at idle, you can hear the injectors more.
