Boost gauges

Alright I have 2 questions. 1 is can I wire in the ss turbo boost gauge into a non ss hhr and have it read correctly. Also, is there any advantage to having a mechanical boost gauge as opposed to the setup in the turbo hhr?

???. A non SS HHR has no turbo. Thus no boost. Thus no readout on the gauge.
So. Why exactly do you want to put this gauge in a non turbo car?

No real advantage to either style. Except for having to run a line inside the car. A digital may have a nano sec quicker response time....

Something like: "Hey folks. I'm putting a supercharger in my 20?? HHR. I was wondering if I could install a stock SS boost gauge into my wiring system and will it work?
There is a couple of owners on this site who have done, or are doing the supercharger mod. They could probably help you with an answer.

My bad I just figured that people read my supercharger write up. I found where I can get the A pillar with the gauge so hopefully that will work. I found out from another member that the place where you tee in for the mechanical boost gauge is where the map sensor meets the manifold. Would that cause problems with the map sensor readings?

From my research, the answer is no, wont work. The SS boost gauge is electronic and controlled by the engine computer. Unless you can rewrite your computer adding the needed code.
Every sc build I have read about uses an aftermarket boost gauge. I have the AEM digital boost and wideband.
You may however use the A-pillar to mount one, removing the factory boost gauge. However you will probably be needing 2 or 3 gauges total.

Will be less expensive to just use an aftermarket Boost/Vac Gauge than trying to use the OEM gauge.

The aftermarket will have everthing to install and hook it up as a Kit.

I bought a GlowShift to match my Wideband Gauge. Buy both gauges to match, same brand looks best.

I bought the OEM front HHR SS pillars and got the gauge with them but thats it the bare gauge, the used oem boost gauges sell for 25.00 bucks give or take online.

A New GlowShift black 7 color boost/vac gauge is only $42.99 with free shipping, they have other styles to choose from in that same price range.

Going that far maybe an Aeroforce Gage to monitor ALL the readings...especially since he won't have a cookie cutter tune available...
