Dirty if you live in Cali or AZ, but not so bad if you live in the North East or other salted road wet area local. And, dirty engine compartment doesn't hurt mileage or performance

In California, the party refusing waranty, would have to prove what you put on caused the defect, and could only void the warranty to that item or system, pursuant to the The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

You should have seen it when I got it. The dealership had replaced the factory airbox because it was so caked with dirt/salt/road grime, that they said they couldn't clean it.
