CGS is in! Quick issue though....
Hello,
I am a new 1LT 2.2L HHR owner. I have just installed my CGS Air Intake, and I like it. Car runs smoother, there is better pickup, and there is a nice sound (not loud at all) to the car.
I did have to make some modifications to the CGS system. The bolt that they sent did not fit (too short, and made for the 2.4L). I had to bend the metal piece that is used to attach the CGS to the Valve Cover assembly. Then I had to 'shave' down the metal piece so that the bolt would 'catch' the screw threads. Luckily I was at my friends shop when I did the install. Otherwise I would NOT have been able to get the CGS Air Intake attached. Anyhow, I just wanted to warn 2.2L owners to expect this issue when you order the part. However, once it is on... WOW, you WILL be happy with the results.
Tomorrow (Monday) I order the GIBSON CatBack made for the 2.2L HHR. Now, this part was made for the 2.2L, so the fit should be nice! 2.4L owners will need to cut and adjust the GIBSON CatBack for HHR. That is okay with me. I am happy that there are manufacturers out there making parts that are a custom fit for the 2.2L. Too may parts are built fot he 2.4L HHR people.
I will post pics once I get the GIBSON CatBack attached. Also I ordered the IMCO Turbo Muffler; however I will not use it since I am going with the CatBack system. So if anyone wants a new, unopened, IMCO Turbo Muffler.... let me know. I will post it in the classifieds once it comes in.
Let me know if you have any questions about the CGS or CatBack.
Thanks,
Michael
Several of us 2.2 owners have found the same fit issues. Sounds like you got it figured out.
This intake sure makes a big difference on the 2.2, love mine. If you ever need more info on the CGS do a search for CGS and CJ.
