Gibson cat-back Exhaust

I am thinking of getting the Gibson system due to finding it for a lower cost than the magnaflow and is made of higher grade stainless. I have read fitment problems on this site from years ago. Has anyone have gotten the Gibson system recently and care to share their experience with it? I have 2011 LT 2.2L

Only posts about the Gibson exhaust are 5 to ten years old so I am hoping to hear some more recent experience.

I had a Gibson muffler on at one time, then switched it out for the Magnaflow, even more of a drone at highway speeds.
I ended up going from the 1 3/4 inch tiny piping from exhaust manifold to tailpipe tip with 2 inch catalytic converter downpipe and a Walker 2 1/4 inch resonator pipe and SS muffler. It’s not obnoxious but let’s the 2.2 breathe a lot better.

How does that Walker system hold up against all the road salt? I was thinking of doing the same thing but when I saw that the Walker system is aluminized steel for the resonator and pipe, I started looking else were. Would love to find a stainless setup from them. I drive about a 100 miles a day for work on the highway so the last thing I want is it to drone inside the car.

I’ve had it for two years now, had to get up close with it last Monday to swap out the fuel lines, it not rusty or crusty, however, next time I’m going to a custom bent SS system, we just had the Sunfire GT done and it’s awesome, just $60.00 more then the Walker system, for me it was the 2inch catalytic converter down pipe that opened up the breathing, no pinched bends all mandrel bent tube

Smooth bends

Mandrel bent curves

OEM 1 3/4 pipe , kinked bends

ive got the magnaflow cat back system on my 2.2 and yes it drones. I do a lot more highway driving now about same as you and its starting to irritate me now lol.
I even put on a bigger resonator to help; its done the job of calming the drone but its still there...so the exhaust is the next thing to get swapped at some point i guess

Recently picked up a 2008 HHR Panel LT 2.2L. Was also looking at exhaust & intake. The CGS looks like a good Intake. I'm undecided on the exhaust, but the Gibson is listed as the loudest overall but haven't found any sound bites.

You're about 8 months in Ft of me on exhaust... what did you end of going with?

The Engineer hasn't logged on since his last post on 3/11/18. Doubt you'll get a reply from him.

Thanks Firemangeorge- I was wondering that.. but hopeful same year would be active.
With the HHR discontinued 2012, is there a much activity on this site?
Is there another good source for HHR owners?
