Dust is just fine dirt not totally unlike sand. And if you are from Sarasota I know there is plenty of sand around there, I was born is St. Pete. If that is the enviroment that you drive in then go with the oiled filter and a good prefilter if you just have to have to have an aftermarket system. If I were you I think I would stick with stock air box and maybe add a K&N drop in filter or make your own. And if you make your own make it like the one HRRNole showed in post #12 of this thread. I believe it is probably better than anything you could buy in the 'after-market' as far as performance is concerned. I don't know what kind of filter he is actually running but if it is a good one I would bet money it is the BEST performer especially above 45-50 mph! And if he has something to channel the air from that foglight hole (something like a funnel) directly to his air filter that would make it even better.

I am a little skeptical about the aftermarket filter. So you say I should stay with stock air box. Ive heard people say they love their airaid filters and have put many miles on them. Im not trying to sound nasty but why is that you say I should stay with stock air box?.

I think he means the stock setup flows more than enough air and no aftermarket intake makes enough difference to justify the cost unless you really like the resulting look/sound. This is especially true if you lack a tune for aftermarket intake or freer flowing filter.

Im not worried about the cost. And I understand that HP and tq gains are minimal if even at all. Im really just getting it for looks and sound. My only concern with the intake is reliability. But if you say if I get a tune for the extra air then the change may be noticable.

What he said.

But if you just are looking for sound and looks the CGS and the GMPerformance look good. But I would bet neither out perform the one HHRNole has in Post12.

Yea im sure that they will not out perform his. I like the look of the cgs intake since it opens up the engine compartment. And the airaid has an aggressive look with the filter sitting on top of the engine.

Hey just got my airaid intake installed. Installation was easy and took about 45 minutes. It does have a little more low end torque but not much. The sound is awsome. This has got to be a stupid question but, since the air inlet tube is the same size and the computer has not been reprogrammed where is all the extra noise coming from? Is it the intake itself, is the the exhaust, just wondering.
