Then K&N's answer is confusing..... it should fit both motors. But maybe there is some adjustment factor that they didn't build in that is built into the factory airbox......

Mhhmm now this is getting annoying. So externally it could be the same but then K&N does not recognize that they can be both used. I assume it has to do with Product Liability but still....

Took a while to get back to this thread.. The two engines to have a different intake manifold, but this doesn't affect the cold air system. On my '08 2.2, three of the four holes from the K&N box to the valve cover lined up perfectly, the fourth having to be drilled into the bottom of the box. Otherwise, absolutely everything worked perfectly, zero other issues.

I was just on autozone's website and looked up filters for both the 2.2 and the 2.4 and the k&n part #'s were the same. Also just a stock filter where the same part #'s also.
