Update: Traction control light went off after 2 miles.Being with out a muff. and a just a added on resonator from advance auto it is just a little to loud. Trying to figure out what the quietest resonator is before slapping on the imco muff that was recently delieverd. Dont't know if I should go large dia. or small with the resonator. Trying different things for the fun of it. Kelldog

Thank's stick! Sooo anyway's the k&n filter came yesterday and installed tonight. First those four bolts holding the cover down do not match on a 2.2. Three line perfectly with the box straight. Facing the engine the front right there is nothing there. Then the fresh air intake inlet on the box WILL NOT fit the stock hose per instructions. Put on as far as I could about 3/4 inch. Went for the next part silicone hose that is clamped on to the throttle body and is no where to be found in the box. Could not beleive it. Just opened the box. Wanting and needing a car I figured I had to do something or put the stock back and wait for the part. Decided to cut the k&n intake tube to fit the stock throttle body sleeve. Perfect fit but what a job.Am concerned about disconnecting the neg. and reconnecting.Have not connected the mass air sensor yet. Why do you need to disconnect the neg. Do not want to take it to a shop to reset everyyhing .Thank's! KELLDOG

I would say you disconnect the negative just so you can't short anything out. Just like any other wiring, if you disconnect anything you pull the negative first. This just saves you from frying anything. I also want to see some pics of this install, thinking of the same setup for the intake.

Reason it's not fitting is that K&N didn't make it for the 2.2. Check their site, the only intake app they have is for the 2.4. Even truckshop.com only lists it for a 2.4.

I did call K&N tech to make sure it would fit as stated in some of these forum's. He said it would, but the reason they do not list it for a 2.2 is because it has never been tested for a 2.2 but would work.Does not make a difference to me that the front bolt on the right does not line up.I am actually thinking of removing the left front and put a insulated shim under the plastic box to keep it off the hot cover. The missing throttle body sleeve that I did not get and the non-fit for the fresh air inlet was a surprize.Felt like those astronaut's coming back from the moon with bad air supply and had to improvise with what they had. The only reason Stick that I did not want to dissconnect the neg. terminal is because am aware of a possibility of having to reset some function's. Being only a covered stock plug, just did not make sence with what appear's to be a remote chance of crossing something. From these forums the popular opinion is the car will ajust for the new mix. What the k&n insructions failed to mention is why they want you to go through the trouble to disconnect the battery. For frying something, or for reajusting the chip's?? Will work on getting pic's stick! THANK"S!!! KELLDOG
