Question Larger MAS Sensor or Throttle Body

In the 90's I had an LT1, I put a larger MAS sensor, and a larger throttle body to allow more air in the tuned port. Is the that possible with the 2.2L, I have a 2009 LS. I have read here that a 2.4 intake interchanges, are the MAS sensor and throttle body larger?

They are not exactly interchangeable. You need to have a tune done to the car to have it mapped to the larger air flow. I did that on my HHR and it is hard to say if it helped any at all. I did a Trifecta tune on mine.
The 2.4 intake manifold helped some but I did not notice any difference good or bad with the 2.4 throttle body on there.

the mas sensor is not a pass through like on your ls its a "stick type" but you can put on a larger tb and im. a tune and wiring would be required. the 2.4 im is the easiest because there is a kit for it. you dont need a tune but to get the full potential out of it you will.

Here`s a pic of the MAP sensors from my 07 2.2 and a 06 2.4 the bigger one on the left is from my 2.2.When I put on the 2.4 intake I stayed with the 2.2 MAP sensor and just drilled the hole a bit larger to fit the 2.2
When I saw how much larger the hole was on the 2.2 sensor I thought it was best to stay with the stock one.

i dont think thats the sensor he is referring to. he was talking about the mas or maf. it measures incoming air velocity temperature and a few other things. the map records data on the manifold. only time you would need to change the map would be to turbo charge as the stock map can only see up to one bar (14.7 psi or pressure at sea level)

Thanks, for the info, I guess I will start looking for a 2.4 throttle body, put that on and have it tuned.
