Yes, that's how we felt. We know he would be amazed at all the knowledge on this forum. We would not have known about lifetime power steering if it wasn't for this forum.
Well, the power steering has been jumping in and out for a while, but not all the time. The list so far is:
the security lock (?) dings and appears on dash,
then clicking in gear shift and it shifts hard,
then speedometer goes haywire,
power steering light shows up, going out sometimes,
the air is kicked off,
cruise kicks off,
key will not crank engine the first couple of time...I think that's it.
All of these things do not happen all the time or all at once. We still don't have a copy of the codes he pulled up. Could there be more than what the local auto store showed?
We use this car as our toad when Rving and we just love it.
The dealership called and ask to keep it over night to test drive in the morning. So, we will see what they say tomorrow.

All the classic symptoms of a dead cell in the battery and or loose ground wires or failing alternator.
The common ground wire issues are the one in the spare tire well loose, the one on the rad cradle loose and or corroded, the ground on the transmission case just down to your right of the oil filter housing.

x2 - yeah get that battery checked - a lot of those symptoms are often battery related (just not enough juice to run things properly).

We just picked up our HHR this afternoon from the dealership. The service invoice states the follow was completed:
They replaced the power steering motor, which was under lifetime warranty,
Checked all terminal contacts at steering column;
Cleaned and checked connections to ECM/traction control module;
Cleared codes;
Checked all power to C grounds;
Replaced o2 sensor;
Test drove vehicle numerous times.
They did not have any issues to show up and we didn't either on the hbour trip home. The service charge was around $800. Don't know if that is good or bad, we were willing to spend a little more than that. They did say if we had any issues within 90 days there would be no charge for a diagnostic check. We hope it is fixed. Thank you Whopper, Old-blue, Donbrew, DrLoch for your time and technical advise. This is a great forum!

When it is in tow, do you pull the fuse?

I'm thinking that if you do that a lot the fuse box can get pulled apart internally.

Fuse ByPass Switch

Sorry for the late reply, yes we do pull the fuse. We were having some issues before we started towing, but we will keep that in mind. Thank you
Did a little research after your question. Would you advise us to install a fuse bypass switch, if so can you recommend a brand?
