New performance mod for the 2.2 enignes...

So, looks like another break-through for the 2.2 guys. Appearantly the intake manifold on the 2.4 is a little different than on the 2.2's. It flows better and has much larger intake runners. Average power shows a drop of about 2 horses or so until 4500 where the power starts to climb. The dyno graph shown on the Cobalt site listed this as making a peak of 16-20 MORE horses at 5500-6500 (redline).

Here's the post....

3 Baseline runs were performed on the 11th of July all showing an average of 138Hp & 139Tq

3 Runs with the manifold installed were done the following Tuesday night as most of you have seen Tom from crate engine depot posted the graphs. The average being 151Hp & 142Tq

Nothing else was changed on the car between the Baseline and the 2.4 manifold install, even on the same tank of fuel.

Now keep in mind not looking at MAX peak (thought they increased as well) @ 6200 RPM there is a 21Hp and 18Tq increase.
Baseline Dyno

After 2.4L Manifold installed (no other changes)

All runs overlayed
Crate Engine Depot makes a kit for this application. Includes the manifold, adapter, and all gaskets. Along with instructions for install. Crate Engine Depot 2.4 Manifold

So far as long as its a Cobalt/HHR ECOtec everything fits. From the 2.0, 2.4 and the 2.2 almost all parts are interchangeable (header, intake manifold, etc) Exhausts for the Cobalts need modification to the hangers only. The bends are the same. We drive a Cobalt Retro Wagon.

This looks like the most bang for your buck mod you 2.2 guys have going for you at this point.

Yeah. It really is! Priced just a little higher than an aftermarket intake but gives a "dyno proven" 20 horsepower!

Course we all know what "dyno proven" has come to mean around here!
