Stuck in park/but not stuck in park

So yesterday my car wouldn't shift out of park. So I left the car alone and eventually It shifted so I could drive. So now if I'm driving and put it back in park I have to wait like 10 minutes and I'll hear a click and I can shift again. What's the problem? What do I need to get fix this time? It's a 09. It's parked on flat ground. Also if I'm sitting in the car with it in park I can hear the click and the doors lock and I'm stuck again until it click and I can shift again. Don't know if this is related to the problem but there is also water leaking in my car on the driver side by the hood release lever so my carpet is soaked. Help please

Oh BTW, depending on the exact problem there may be an extended warranty on the shifter.

When mine was doing the same sort of thing I sprayed WD40 on the solenoid plunger.

Re: water leak - there can be several possible problem areas. You can check out a few of the fixes members have found, by doing a search for "drivers side leaks"

- one that is pretty interesting is this one: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...k-again-36429/
