2008 2.2l swap to 2.4?

my 2008 1/2 panel made it about 90,000 b4 with the new head and it put a valve head thru the piston this time. Can I put a 2.4l in instead? Back when I worked for Chrysler I put several 5.9l v8s in where 5.2l came out and never evendors changed computers. my thinking is if mine ia a gen ii, would a 2.4l bolt right in? the ecm should adapt, if needed I have efi live tuning. No more ebay timing components.

Let's see. 2008 2.2 is a non- VVT engine. The 2.4 is a VVT engine so it's not a simple swap out.
Guess if you wanted to change all the wiring and computers and had someone who could reflash your present car to accept the 2.4, then yeah, it might work.
Not seeing you gaining anything by doing this. Just get a quality rebuilt 2.2 and save the headaches.

Physically, yes bolt in, as for the VVT in the 2.4 , that’s the issue.
Just stick to a rebuild or used 2.2. Summit Racing might have a new GM crate engine

if you’re gonna keep the panel.

I just did exactly that. Runs fine. Started right up. Driving it now. Got a PCM from Flagship One.

Exactly like the OP ? With a 2008 model ? I don't think so.
The 2008 2.2 is a different engine than the 2009 and up. The 2008 wouldn't have the correct wiring to put in a 2.4. One, there wouldn't be any VVT wiring for the 2.4.
Also on the 2008 I don't think just a PCM swap would work. You would likely need the ECM at the very least. Probably some other stuff.

...Face palm. You're right. It was a 2008 LE5 2.4l into a 2009 former 2.2l.
