NOT!!!!

Just kidding dude...

I tend to put my foot in it a lot more than Angie does around town... and local driving is not that great but I can really see an improvement on the highway trips.

Mine is a bad one to judge since mine was tune for the most hp possible. My wife get about 25 overall. I get about 23. She doesn't reset her DIC, I do with each fill-up. She uses 87 octane, I use 93.

Yes, a bad coolant temp sensor should throw a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code).

I have a 06 2.4 auto, and have checked the milage by math since day one. Keep in mind I live in NYC and am constantly in bumper to bumper gridlock traffic.

I usually get between 14-16 mpg, with the low being 11 1/2 and the highs being 26 1/2 with one passanger and 26 with 3 passangers on the highway, with a couple of traffic slow-ups and a little city driving. The DIC will give astounding momentary milage numbers. I idle the engine a lot when I am waiting for my wife while she shops or picking my kids up from school and listening to the radio, since I have 2 massive amplifiers and battery problems.

During the course of my upgrades-CGS intake, Autolite plugs, IMCO muffler, and computer tune, the milage (or lack of) has remained constant.

Driving style has more to do with fuel mileage than most anything. If you have to be the first one to the next light so you can stop, then don't expect the same mileage that the guy next to you gets because he slows down and gets to the next light when it changes.

We have an 2006 2lt automatic and get 21 to 22 mpg in city and on the road get 29 to 30 mpg. The best we ever did was 33 mpg doing 55 mph driving on country roads.

I have both the 2006 & 2008 HHR..
I peak under the hoods for an comparison..

I did notice sometime that is quite different..

The intake manifold (where the throttle is bolted on )
The 2006 intake seems a bit bigger size than the 2008 intake..
Possible this is why I'm getting a few more MPG in it vs the 2006..

But, My 2006 does get 30 - 35 on the open road..
then on average 26.7 MPG city/hwy. FYI...

Driving style is very important, and outside of the occassional 'teenage moment' I drive very conservatively. Often I have my 5 year old daughter in the car, and she hates going fast or accelerating hard. (My 12 year old son, on the other hand, loves it). But the truth is, on NYC streets there are not many opportunities to mash the gas, nor are the pothole ridden streets conducive for spirited driving.

In other words, as my wife often says, I drive like I have all the time in the world. Perhaps I am just giving everyone on the road a chance to better see my HHR and appreciate it's beauty. But the bottom line is, aggressive driving is not a factor in my miles per gallon numbers.
