Cgs clean and oil instructions?
I just received a used CGS intake in the mail today, and the filter was in need of cleaning.
The CGS web site does not give any filter maintance instructions.
I found one web site that said..clean with hot soapy water, and then spray with WD-40...I'm not sure about that.
Any advice?

Local auto parts should have a K&N recharge kit, (maybe $12-$14.) Last a lifetime. Comes with 2 spray bottles, 1 pump bottle of cleaner, & 1 aerosol of red Filter oil.. The oil is what traps the dirt/grit etc..
After cleaner has been applied, wait a few & gently rinse...Never using more water pressure than a faucet will gently flow out easily..
And after drying from cleaning, go easy on the oiling ..

I found an old K&N filter cleaning kit out in the shop, and will give it a recharge.
I did some internet snoopin' around for home brew filter cleaning tricks.
So for your amusement or edification..here are some of the urban filter cleaning techniques.
1) 2 scoops of oxyclean in an empty busket..pour in club soda and the resulting fizz and foam floats the crud of of the filter, and a ten minute soak cleans the filter element.
skim the crud off the top of the foam and remove and rinse filter.
2) Spray with simple green, and rinse.
3) warm laundry soap soak, and rinse.
I looked at the main cleaning chemical in my old bottle of K&N cleaning solution.
It is the same stuff that in Westleys bleach white tire cleaner..I thought it smelled familiar.
Thanks for the info guys.

multi-purpose cleaner, air filters/ whitewalls & etc...
There are some pretty different formulas for A/F cleaning..
If you get tired of an oiled filter, check out Aem* Dryflow filters.. It's what GM uses in the GMPP Air boxes..

sleeper thanks for the tip! I knew there had to be a way to get a replacement filter if ever the on that came with the kit where to become damaged or so full of dirt that the engine can no longer breathe properly.
