Cone Filter in Stock Box?
Well i would strongly suggest not putting a K&N filter in it. I've had mass airflow sensor problems over the past year and a half since putting the filter in. I have a thread posted and from what im hearing alot of people have this problem with the filter. Just want to tell you to look around this site about the issue before using one.
Too many people just don't know how to oil them, or what needs to be done before a new one is installed.
I actually live in a very hilly area and I can tell a difference in power and power delivery. I haven't been on in a few days to post but I'll get some pics on here soon. I actually am using a large come filter off of an aem intake I had on my vibe. next, month I'm just ordering an airaid and a jet powrflo maf but for now I do get noticeable gains in throttle response and low end power. I actually attached it where the stock inlet attached so I'm utilizing the volume of the, intake box minus the restriction of the filter before it even starts to need to pull air from through the cone filter. I did utilize some heatshielding and insulated wrap to help keep most the heat away from the filter. I know a lot of,people feel that cars are perfect stock, no cars are a compromise. Some wouldn't like the induction noise on my hhr, I do. but it's your investment and your baby treat it how you see fit.

Well...it seems that it might not be the K&N....only reason i came to this theory is based on what people on here have told me and ironically it started to happen right when i bought the K&N. Well i put a paper filter in this last time and the dealer even replaced the airflow sensor and now i'm having this issue again without the K&N. so 3 new sensors and cleaned the sensors another 3 times(6times ive had this problem) so i have no clue what it could be................
^ Did they check yours for an intake leak or a vacuum leak, too? It would seem it's not the sensor, but either some kind of air leak or there's an electrical problem. Does it go into limp mode, or just throw a code and otherwise run OK? Fixing a leak is going to be cheaper than digging into the electricals. Hope you nail it soon.
well, it does want to stall sometimes and runs rough with the CEL p0102 all the time. WhenI can take the sensor out i notice its a bit dirty. I clean it and it runs fine for a few months.......I've been thinking i might have a crack or something in the housing maybe???? i dont know.

Dropped $450 on a kit and now has noticeable power. The power is worth it but my 06 2.4L 2nd eddition 5 speed is not liking the high speed as much as before. I have to go 100 kph on highway trips to achieve the same economy at 120 kph before the install but was assured the economy would be better when purchased. Anyone know the possible fix. It die have an oxygen code but that hasn't reappeared in a few months. I have been putting 91 octane in it this month just in case but it hasn't gotten better.
