How much of the original air box is cut away?
I am trading in my loved 07 LT2 panel. : ( It has 152000 miles on it and was starting to become a fiscal nightmare. So I am getting, well today since it is already after midnight, an 06 LT2 with 54000 miles. My wife is happy as we now will have a back seat (and windows) so no more caravaning when going places. I am sad parting with the panel as I always got questioned about its origin - yes its factory and loaded. My wife also thinks the weapon-R intake made the HHR meet its "early" demise (and not the aggressive way I dove the car) I will always believe the CAI was great despite all of the chatter about whether it is sucking hot or cold air, but to be in compliance with my wife I think I am going to cut down a factory air cleaner. (She does not know this yet - LOL LOL) Since I will not do this until spring the suspense is killing me. Is it possible to cut to much away? Does cutting the excess away impact where the cleaner gets pushed into position? Anyone have a top (found one but to have them together would be great) and bottom picture? Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. John

Found this old thread by using the "wayback machine" AKA the Search function, should give you the info your need.

843de, Thanks .... I tried searching and found one great picture of the top of a cut one but couldn't find the thread you pointed out. Thanks. John
Added. I did see this thread but it really does not say much. Guess I can use the picture to go by and I am sure actually having the factory air cleaner in my lap would not hurt. Guess I am raring to go. Thank you again. John
