Question missing thrush washer or shim

Helping a friend with 2007 2.4 we were doing the timing chains on disassembly there was a mangled washer or shim on the crankshaft, it was broken into so we grabbed it and pulled it out and went to the dealer to get a replacement, they don't show it but did finally came up with a very thin shim ($36.00 each) we put 2 in and on reassembly the balancer was rubbing the timing cover, I don't think we have enough shims! May need another 4-5 shim.Does anyone know the part number to the correct shim or where to get some information???

Thanks in advance

I’m not seeing any shims for the 2.4 or the 2.2 in 2007, I’ve done several timing chain replacements on these and don’t recall seeing a shim or washer in any of them.
is it possible someone replaced the OEM harmonic balancer with a 2.0 balancer? There are shims for those.

The 3 parts involved, crank pulley, crank, and front cover, I only see the crank as engine specific. The crank pulley and front cover seem to be the same across all engines. But the shim washers aren't shown on any of the diagrams that I can see.

I thought you had shims for your LNF ? there’s a member just recently did his LNF timing chain and water pump he posted photos of shims for his harmonic balancer.

I had my balancer off to replace the valve seals. My memory isn't the best. I don't recall any shims. But I'm just not sure.

Yes, hhrumadbruh, she said there were shims on hers, but didn't know for sure where they went. Why do I get a feeling they go behind the gear?

Here's a link to some info about that shim on the 2.0 LNF. https://f01.justanswer.com/dcraig100...600752_eee.pdf

Good info, thanks FMG. That does kind of trigger my memory a bit, about the one shim covering the timing mark.

Dang...mine came with marks that indicated the harmonic balancer was pressed against them. Unless it was worked on previously and they put them in the wrong place.

Now I'm not sure if I should put them where they belong or leave them....
