I believe I said, use a longer resonator. How long is the one in your catback ?

Ah, 2010 system has two cats! That's why it is quieter.

yes I want to do that same thing, but instead of a second cat it will be a circular magnaflow, basically another resonator.

and the resonator on the catback looks to be around the same size as stock, it's just larger in diameter.

so would you guys say this would definitely help, I have gotten the sound down to almost perfect, just need an extra 5 db or more to go away.

Well it helped a little bit, but not like I hoped it would.

I put a resonator where a second cat would go.

The guys at the muffler shop said a louvered resonator would quiet it down more but they didn't have one in stock so they used a magnaflow.

Should I have them replace it with a louvered resonator?

I don't understand, is there no way to make an HHR have a quiet performance exhaust?

Everytime I bring it in they refer to it as the speaker box car, because they say any other muffler they put on it amplifies into the car like a speaker box.

So would a louvered resonator be the way to go? Should I remove both resonators and put one the spans the entire length from the cat to the first bend in the back?

Is there really no solution besides stock?

I really don't want to keep waisting money, but If I could achieve what I am going for with out going stock it would make my day.

Hey thanks old blue.

I just don't know what path to go down next. And this has already been expensive so I just don't think I can do much more.

its just a bummer after all this to go back to stock

I'll give it two more weeks of ideas and then if I can't find a solution it will have to go back to stock.

I seem to remember you bringing up this discussion several years ago.
I've had the Flowmaster HP2 shorty muffler on my stock piping for a few years now. I'm very happy with it. No drone or extra cabin noise. No snap, crackle, pop ricer noise.
But my wife says it is definitely louder and "meaner" sounding as I head off to work.

I still haven't figured how you think the stock muffler is restrictive at all. It is not a straight through pipe, but it doesn't route the flow anywhere except to the next pipe, and they are both pretty straight. The sound waves are the only thing that go through baffles.

Maybe just replace the entire system with a larger diameter piping.

That's what I did , went from 1 3/4 to 2 1/4, not much but just enough!
I believe he already switched to the Magnaflow or Borla GMPP system
