Can the Ion Redline/Cobalt SS supercharger be modified to fit a 2.4 HHR?

yes if you visit www.cobaltss.net there is a write up on parts needed.........now before you get happy it wont be a "bolt on" you will need to either fab up or have some one fab up some adapters and a couple other things..........if you can do the work your self it was estimated at around 2,000 and thats finding the parts pretty cheap....why not a turbo? why not all motor? but visit cobalts forum they have way more info as to modding your 2.4L..........

why should he wait for the ss when he already has a HHR. it is most likely going to have the same 2.0 ss/sc engine in it as the cobalt ss / ion redline. why go trade your HHR in for the SS and end up taking it I.D.B. because you might be upside down on the first HHR.

Actually, it's probably going to have the 2.0 Direct-injection turbo from the Solstice GXP/Sky Redline, just tuned down a bit i'm sure.

thats what i've read and seen photos for as well............but serious they have all types of things for our cars the cam's with all bolt on's and nice tune should get you 200whp+ then add like a lighten flywheel lighter rims n a little weight reduction should be around 220whp not bad for a 4cly........or just get the turbo thats out.......or do the supercharger.......choices choices.....................

However, currently there is still no ECU flashing available to allow you to run boost on a 2.4L VVT engine. Read your own threads - no one has done it yet.

Before you make wrongful posts slamming "a certain vendor on the HHR.net site" - learn a thing or two (or at least do your homework!). The 2.4L has not been sucessfully SC'd or turbo'd by anyone as of today. Several turbos have been installed on HHR's - but they were "cosmetic" only and will not run sucessfully with boost.

We had a member here over 6-months ago who works directly (designing custom vehicles for GM), with the developers in Colorado and he was unsucessful in getting any programming done for a boosted 2.4L. If someone that high up the chain can't get a reflash...well, you're just going to have to wait for it.

We've been working with a couple of vendors for months now trying to get some programming done for a hand-held system for the HHR. It will most likely still be several months away though.

As far as supercharging, the best bet is to either get a 2.0L engine, or wait for the 260hp Solstice motor.

What about Darkside's HHR? It's got a Turbo setup from STS and a 2.4. Here is a motortrend article. In the article they claim that final calibration has not been done yet, but at approximately 4 tenths of a gain its more than "cosmetic".
