Correct, Darksides HHR has a 2.2L in it.
2.4L's are still waiting for a reflash to be available. Even GM does not have an answer for this yet. This is most likely why they (GM) have chosen to go with the Solstice engine for the SS - programming is already there.

Plus it was no faster than a stock HHR, due to the increased weight of stereo and wheels/tires. They figured that it would be about .4 faster than stock, with an increase in HP of 71 to a total of 204, up from 143. Since the 2.4 is starting with 175, adding an IMCO muffler and CGS intake add about 15 hp, for about 190 HP. We should be able to add the additional 14 with other, less expensive and elaborate ways (they will eventually have an electronic tune kit, and lighter pulleys look promising).
Besides, since turbo and SC kits are in the works for the 2.4, I would wait. Starting with a more powerful engine would be better, IMO.

By no means am I an expert on anything, but I was just wondering ....... somewhere between the first HHR's (or whenever Darksides was built) and June of 2006 did they change the design of the 2.2? Specifically the valvecover. I'm only asking because the motor in Darksides car which is supposed to be a 2.2 doesn't look anything like mine. Thanks....

you are talking about hp to the flywheel and not to the wheels right? cause its going to take alot more then cgs, muffler, pulley to get any where near 200whp on a 2.4L
