How the hell is $4200 "relatively low-dollar"

This ridiculously biased article feels more like an advertisement to me... Seriously unless you've got fabrication skills and or a deep wallet go find a used SS to trade in for..

Compared to F body and Corvette Kits it is actually rather in expensive.

The only other "cheaper" kits are STS which is a completely different set up as it rear mount and I think DIY are around 1900-2000 not including options.

As for the SS option, most are not in position for one and they have to use what they have.

That is a very common questions for guys with v6's or LT1 350's wanting to take their 93-97 Fbody to a 98+ LS1 spec. You gotta rip out almost everything and re do it. Its not a simple drop in.

IF though I could find a SS HHR drop in motor, that would be cool.

That's a 100% true statement.

I've got a different engine to drop in, so I am not worried about it too much. But with the availability of injectors for these engines, at the very least, have a set made. Also being that both ECM's can be tuned with real tuning software I don't see why Hahn failed at it, maybe it's just me.

I have never actually read the thread mind you, so I don't know what the real tuning issue was.

If I get boosted, it will be a cobalt supercharger. Cheaper, easier, and proven. Plus it sounds better

The main reason Hahn failed is that after one year of having my car, he did a one week fitment/tune rush job. If he had done it befoe, an HHR, maybe it would not have been so bad. But he tried to do te tuning himself, something Hahn does NOT do. Check almost all of their project cars and they either have a canned tune or someone else did it. He never made a good-faith effort to ever resolve the issues after he sent me home. He lierally finished the install, did the tune and sent me home in three days!

So I have to ask, where does the turbo rest? Did he do an SS type setup on the back side of the engine?

Agreed but also someone in that position shouldn't be trying to turbo their engine. If the thing blows which due to the nature of this stuff is kinda likely and an engine is going to cost about what it would cost you to trade your car in + cash for an SS.

I think the easy route would to be a small remote mount turbo running low boost. I haven't really done too much digging behind the engine but it does not look like theres much space to work back there.. Probably would be a fun project but for now i'll stick to my MR2 turbo for going fast and the HHR as a fun to daily driver

Ever seen where the turbo is on an SS model? There's room.
