Hey no offense taken....

I was responding to the ECU statement.....everyone seems to be hung up on the computer and nobody seems to be able to absolutely answer the compatability question (although a lot of people say they are the same). I'm trying to meet with a couple of the local Solstice Club people to switch ECU's and check for driveability...soon.

The next part would be to build the exhaust connection and intake box (I'm working with someone on that now). So, if the ECU works, the turbo is available from Hahn, in a kit (talking extensively with them through an intermediary)with some additional mods for connectivity....no big deal ....except money.

Edit...Oh, I need to add one thing. A turbo will NOT run "everyday street" on the existing radiator/cooling system. That is one of the problems GM is encountering on the turbo 2.0 HHR (and frankly again, in the Solstice).

You're right there are other stumbling blocks like fittment. None of these should stop one from being done. Its just a matter of time before we have one that doesn't have to be modded to fit.

Sorry about the delay...and thanks for welcoming me...

So this is how it all breaks down
a full turbo w/tuning for the HHR Guys, this kit would include turbo manifold (used on the 2.2L cobalts, 2.4L ION's...etc) w/heat shield, Turbo (mitzi) run about 8-9psi (can go as far up to 17psi but not recommended) full piping mandrel bends, Intercooler, Tuning via UNICHIP "Q" (piggy back 5th injector 65#er) and all the hoses and connections needed to install either at your home or at a shop with full instructions...

Would you guys be interested in something like this....?

i am chatting with a gentlemen that might drop is car off and if that is the case might have a full blown "Like Factory" turbo kit for you guys by the beginning of 2007!

Speed Mafia....

I may be interested. But as I understand your inquiry, you currently do not have a product. So, you're still in the experimental stage. A lot will depend on overall performance, pricing, quality, support, warranty.....for me, I want a package for a daily use vehicle. I want performance when I want it...not to race some kid on a deserted street, on weekends. For example, one of the problems encountered is engine cooling, especially with a/c in the hotter months. Which I can accomodate, but I want to know about it ahead of time. Once it is installed, it's installed completely. I don't want to trouble shoot and buy "add-ons" for the next year, to keep the car on the street.

I've been researching this area extensively with the "main players" in the turbo market. So, if you put a package together I would want to review the "ingredients" as well as overall performance, to make a decision.....who are you and how long you have been in business.....I don't do "big dollars" with eBay people (that is not intended as a "slam".....but you are new on this forum and nobody knows you).

Just giving you a straight forward heads up......others (who have some knowledge in this area) may add their own concerns/requirements.

Thanks for making the inquiry and developing the interest !! Please keep us up to date.

you currently do not have a product: currently we will be utilizing the turbo kit that has been out since 2003 for the Saturn ion's 2.2L and this kit also fits the 2.4L so this statement is not true it is a matter of us using the existing kit and changing the piping and some tuning differences...and the kit will be done

So, you're still in the experimental stageno, have everything already done just need to test fit piping as stated above

A lot will depend on overall performance, pricing, quality, support, warranty over all performance we are looking for a daily driver HHR with about 250whp that is reliable and safe on 91+ octane, support is always available via Speed Mafia or Alpine, and warranty is based on installation and the parts.

Once it is installed, it's installed completely. only aftermarket parts we suggest is a boost gauge and Wide band 02, it is nice to keep eye on all the vitals of the motor and air/fuel

I've been researching this area extensively with the "main players" in the turbo market Speed Mafia works with Alpine development that has been designing and fabricating turbo systems for over 25years and with johns knowledge of Turbos and mine of Centrifugal Superchargers (ProCharger, Vortech, Paxton) you can rest assure the job will get done right the first time, I personally work on V8 Cars like Corvette LS1/LS2 and LS6 cars and of course LS7 monsters, I started working on the 2.2L/2.0L and 2.4L cars when I designed a ProCharger kit for the Saturn ION and could not believe the power they can make, and how the design of the motor was very simple to upgrade for added hp! At that point I realized my skill set could be applied to the smaller gm motors as well as the V8 stuff!

So feel free to ask away, I will keep you guys posted on a Cobalt Turbo kit we are doing this weekend!

Here is the manifold we use I had it laying around thought I would get some pics of it as a teaser, this bolts right up to the 2.2L and was designed by Alpine Development!

I have no problem becoming a Vendor...After we get 1 HHR in to test fit the piping and the kit is developed then Vendor time it is!

The beauty of this is we have everything to apply the turbo to the Ecotec Motor , it is just a matter of time we get a car in and strap on the turbo kit and route the piping and tune it via UniChip Q and then we are good to go!

have any of you guys heard of the Saturn Motorsports Turbo kit (SMS) for the Saturn ION?
