08 Door Poppers / shaved doors
08 Door Poppers / shaved doors
I recently went to a meet/ greet with fellow HHR members. One of the cars was a panel with the automatic door poppers in the rear doors. Cool idea and it opened the door about 6" as well.
I am thinking about inquiring into these to for the soul purpose of doing completely shaved door handles on my car. Yes I know about the possibility of a dead battery and there are ways around that.
Remote terminals is one way to do it. Or a non-power door popper for access.
But i think this would be a cool add-on accessory to the car and since it is already installed on the 08 panel, now the work is done for the right actuator and lbs. rating for the kit.
any thoughts on this or part numbers?

I have a panel and thought about possibly doing that to the front doors someday. Not sure what the part number is though. You can't even see the door popper at all. gmpartsdirect is a pain in the ass to navigate if you don't know the part number. You might have to go to a dealer. It might be cheaper to get aftermarket poppers, but I guess if there are some made specifically for it...
OEM door poppers, huh? Interesting, what is the world coming to?
For what its worth, I have shaved doors and aftermarket electric door openers and poppers front and rear on my 46 chevy sedan delivery and I have to be honest, I wouldn’t do it again. (next 1951 f1) Along with the (fixable) chance of getting locked out and the installation hassles, the extra fob fumbling multiple button push required means that most often I leave the window down and reach in to unlock, kina defeats the purpose.

Jim ..........
i can do it using door lock motors. we do it all the time on newer cars w/ lighter doors. the door lock motors are the best thing to use b/c they are gear driven and do not rely on a spring loaded popper.

I said it was there though. I doubt panel only parts would be on there yet but never know
