The AM/FM antenna on the Malibu is in the rear window. The antenna on the roof is for XM and OnStar.

Figured that. I'm guessin' that these are similar to some of the old fullsize trucks that had the antenna wires affixed to the windshield? How's the reception on those?

I mostly listen to XM on my 7-10 minute commute, but when I try local FM stations their signals are clear. Now my AM has been in the toilet ever since I had the back window tinted. I hope I got this issue fixed today.

This probably has to do with the window tint being made out of Mylar (metallic, reflective) film.

Make sure you wear your tin foil hat when you drive, you dont want your brain to absorb too much radio waves

has anyone had fm reception problems i alwas have poor reception even on localy broasdcasted stations i sometimes drive past the studio of a station i listen to and still have problems i wonder if i can get some type of amplifier. i have no problem with any am stations wich i regulary listen to as well i do have metallic tint allthe way around my car including the sun roof and about 4 inches of the top of the windshield. but i figured that shouldent make a diffrence with the external antenna
