Wish List: Door Lock Mod-Old Timey Hood Scripts-Front License Plate Mod-

Is there a particular section on this forum where mods such as these are described - or are they scattered all over the place?

For example - what is the "door lock mod"?

I was thinking that when I get a shop manual for my new HHR, I was going to take a look at the wiring diagram for the power door locks in the front doors - I'd rather have them control the windows than the door locks - just like how the rear doors are setup...

I was considering a Stebel Airhorn to replace the stock horn - and now after stumbling onto this thread - I like the idea of an old fashioned horn much better :-)
Is the "Wolo" the horn everyone is using?
I listened to the recording on the website (autobarn.net) and I actually would prefer something that sounds more like this:

They are scattered to the forums where they are related. If it is a performance mod then it is in the forum for the particular engine it is for.

Stubby door locks - so you dont impale your arm when hanging your elbow out the window.

I think someone else was talking about doing this. Maybe one of our search-bots can find it.

The Wolo is the one I have, it kinda sounds like a sick cow. there is a fix for it though. Put a resistor in the line to lower the voltage to 6 volts. I haven't done it yet, but it is on the to-do list.

BTW, to the club.

installed one on my '06. made a bracket and mounted it just in front of hood release.(very limited space.) ran a wire and installed the push button on lower dash left side of steering column. left original horn intact. love it. use it most of the time...

X 2...

They are just the classiest was of saying "move yer ass dangit!", and they're great for propelling wayward pedestrians back up onto the sidewalk, one good "HONK!" and they can't get off the street fast enough.

We have a problem with people who walk around in Charlotte in some kind of trance, they just walk along and then turn hard right or left off the sidewalk into traffic, do they look....nope.

I have an ahooga horn on my MGB. Really turns heads when I use it. I really want something different for the HHR. I did buy a pair of horns from a 70 something Impala but they do not work at all.

I do have some from a '50 Ford custom {was my dads car} but I think they are probably 6 volt and I don't want to just burn them up.

Grizz-

I used to use 6 volts horns quite a bit on 12 volts, makes em extra loud.. Can't lay on them for a long time tho for obvious reasons..

I suppose I could always use a wire wound ceramic covered resistor like Dodge did with their coils for so many years.

Would drop the extra 6 volts no problem.

Would you mind sending me a few digital photos of where and how you mounted your Oogah horn? I'd greatly appreciate it.
