Has anyone ever removed the chrome cap from the outside mirrors?

If you have....are they just like the all black ones on the LS HHR underneath?

Im wanting to smooth and color match the mirrors and if they are black textured stock looking underneath it would be great.

 

I'll trade my ls mirrors for your chrome's if you want.....Regards

From what I remember reading on the forum, the skull caps are not removable and the mirrors have to be totally replaced. I believe it was CJ who looked into this, so you might try contacting him.

 

The chrome caps are not removable, and what is actually underneath is ugly.

i was told at the dealer you have to buy the WHOLE mirror

 

Funny thing is...I looked up the chrome mirrors (listed as stainless from gm)$74.00 each. The plain L/S mirrors were more expensive...about $110.00 each............Regards

OK you can buy the black caps from the dealer. You do not have to buy the whole mirror and yes the caps do come off. There is only 2 types of caps there is chrome ones and the black ones so the part # shouldn't be that hard to get. I have ordered them the black caps before there like $8 my price that's with a hook up from a friend that works there. Your looking maybe $12 for a customer. If it comes down to it I can order them for you guy's and you can send me money. just trying to help.
