Any special trick to this? I tried on my 2008 HHR LT2 auto and got nothing. The chrome piece could rotate 1/4 turn but thats it.

You have to push the chrome piece downwards( it is easierto do it with the shifter in the neutral position) and once down there is a set screw that is on the backside of the shift knob that you have to loosen up with a metric allen wrench.
