Balerion got clean last night
Last night was the night I planned to give Balerion a thorough cleaning. Wrapped up work, went outside, checked the weather forecast. It had been raining most of the week, and a nasty storm was rolling in. I decide to do it anyway, so up to the nearby self-serve car wash with my two buckets full of supplies. My roommates thought I was nuts.
Got there around 6:30pm. Finished washing at 7:52 (door jambs and around the tailgate, under the gas cap, partial under hood all got the soapy chenille, then lots of rinse). Finished hand drying at 8:27. Finished claying around 1am. Finished waxing and all done at 2:30. Got back home at 3am.
Well... I thought I had Balerion pretty clean before, but, now he's almost factory clean. The bucket water was surprisingly gray, but only a few areas really had much to give to the clay: along front air dam, under the front of the running boards, and under the rear bumper. Many times when buffing the wax off I got confused by the reflections of the wash bay.
Here are the pictures I took a little bit ago:
See the reflection of the bowtie in the bumper:
The finish is ridiculously mirror-like, as you can see. I did everything by hand, and that's with only one coat of wax. When I first went outside to take the pictures, the glare was hard to look at.
Products I used:
And as for the weather? It rained for all of 10 minutes while I was rinsing... clear skies when I got home.
