I personally like slant-cut that enlarges from exhaust size to not more than 3.5"

Ours is the SE model so it has the ground effects on it from the factory. I call them body kits.

my brother bought one for hos 07 cobalt and used it for like 2 years and then got a borla exhaust so i have a free tip on my car that has no signs of rust.... my dad put a cheap one on my moms car but that flew off the car as they were taking a turn

I believe that the basic XFE exhaust is around 1.25". The Autozone $10 unit has an end that is rolled into the stock pipe outlet to make it appear that the tip is part of the pipe and adds the appearance of thickness that is larger than stock. If you get a larger diameter, the rolled edge might not mate with the inside diameter of the stock pipe.

I'll see if I can post some pics (need to take some) to illustrate my point.
