okay, so this is an idea i've had for a while, inspired by the Panel Tuner concept GM did. the one that was kind of an olive green, with the offset stripes. now, don't kill me, i KNOW the pics are a PT Cruiser, but i'm not good at photoshop, and i have Forza 2, which happens to have PT GT, blacked out, it's close enough to get an idea of how my thoughts would look.

i've talked about painting my wheels Sedona Red, which i still plan to do, but i don't have the spare money to be painting things right now. i am thinking of doing something along the lines of this stripe setup, in vinyl for the time being, until i can afford to have it painted on. i'm thinking color choices are kind of limited by what you can get vinyl in, unlike paint, where custom mixes are easy, so matching the Sedona Red for the wheels would be nearly impossible with vinyl. i will go vinyl with whatever red i can get that is close to what i'm looking for, then when i can get the wheels painted, i can pull the red stripe off if i want, until i can afford to have all the stripes painted, at which point the red stripe would be Sedona Red as well.

what do you guys think? i also plan to carry the stripes onto the grill frame and center bar, but that was nearly imposible to replicate with the way the PT's grill is, so that's not really shown here.







any kind of constructive criticism or other similar ideas are welcome. also, if someone good with photoshop could try putting this idea onto an actual HHR SS i would appreciate it.

 

Deinately like the idea of offset stripes, but gotta see it photo-shopped to give a serious vote

 

yeah i've noticed this idea is a very "love it" or "hate it" idea. i ahven't talked to anyone that was "on the fence" about it, they've all either really liked it or absolutely hated it haha. really curious to see if anyone with some photoshop skills could give it a shot.

haha, thaks that looks pretty good, Dayton. would you mind doing a couple more, for placement experimentation's sake? if so, drop me a PM and i'll let you know what i'm thinking. though the totally off to one side looks kinda neat too. also, if you wanted, i could make it a bit easier for you by emailing you the full-size file of that pic. it was taken with my XSi, so it's like 12MP haha. well, if my email will let me send the full size. if not, i could at least send you a bigger one.

 

Make the white stripe line up with the width of the bowtie and you got a winner.

 

not to steal your thread but I gotta a dark gray panel and i was contemplating on maybe big flat black scallops with red outlining pinstripes i already have a flat black grill with red bowtie and im riding on steelies with red lugs I think itll look pretty sweet to but the tuner concept is nice but czechman is right with the white
